Vintage Earring Bracelet..999 fine silver over solid brass gives new home and new life to pearl, rhinestone, crystals each earring a tiny work of art. One of a kind, this bracelet is crafted with vintage 50's and 60's hinged or "leverback" earrings. Screwbacks were invented in 1894 allowing women without pierced ears to wear earrings. These pieces are authentic and because of their age, use and care some may have minor flaws. A tiny scratch or oxidation. I think these just add character.
Remember Gramma's Clip-on's or screw back earrings. Well I do. And I remember my Momma letting me try them on while I watched her "put-on" her face for the day. I was hooked. I also remember that all so precious jewelry box. You know...the one. The lift up top, mirror in the lid, sections lined with soft velvet, a tiny treasure in each one. Sometimes even a lock and key. If we were lucky it wasn't kept locked. Usually even if it was we knew we could find the tiny key under a doily also on the dressing table. Nap time would come... She would tuck me in her bed. I would lay there and listen...steps down the hall. She would click on the TV to let the "tube warm up" while she went to the kitchen to make her afternoon coffee or tea. I knew I would be set for a brief time while she caught a few minutes break to watch her afternoon "story" As the World Turns" I would sneak out of that bed, tip toe across the room to that mysterious box. Hope that it wasn't locked. Gently lifted the lid and just admired all of that special goodness. It even smelled like her. There wasn't much, many empty little sections. But what was there held a certain mystery to me. I would pop back over to bed and tell stories to myself about special travels and occasions and people that may have given her these trinkets. Trinkets and treasures from the Five and Dime.
